Reflection #6

Blog Reflection #6: Please reflect on your overall experience during field particularly focusing on how you and your partner (and your cooperating teacher) were able to integrate the arts into your teaching.

My overall experience in field was an amazing time and I loved every minute of it. I learned so much. As far as the arts stuff goes. I think we did a great job with incorporating it into the classroom. We actually tried to add art elements into one of the lessons and our cooperating teacher thought it took away from the childrens creativitiy. So that ended up not working out as well as planned but overall it went well and I learned alot!

We did some fun science expierments with the kids! It was great! It was a good week all in all! And I really am going to miss the kids when this is all over!

Reflection for Field Work Week 2

This week was awesome! We spent the week teaching our social studies lessons! They went well and we were able to assign the students our assessment for the week, which was an art brochure! We are so excited to see what the students create and see what they learned from our teaching! I can't wait to be a teacher! This whole week has made me want even more to be a teacher!!!! I simply can't wait!!!

Field Relfection #1

I am having a blast in field!! My partner is great! My cooperating teacher is great! The students are great!! I cannot wait to be a teacher! Too bad I still have another year and a half left :) It is really nice to not be in school right now as well! The students have surprised me because I teach Preschool right now and its quite the mindset change to go from little preschoolers to 6th graders, and I was actually thinking I would really not like being in a 6th grade class but you know what the students have been very fun! And they make me laugh. So, so far I have really enjoyed it!

Reflection #4

Music Integration in the Classroom
After reading the text, working with music in class, and preparing your group presentation (as well as the other groups), what are your thoughts about using music in the classroom and particularly, how do you want to use music in your classroom?

I absolutley love music! It is a big part of my life! I will defniatley be using music in my classroom. I hope to teach kindergarten or preschool and in those grades you for sure use alot of music in your teaching. I fell music is very important in teaching and I think if used the right way it can reach alot of students and help them to learn more effectivley.

Reflection #5

Visual Arts
Reflect on what you have learned about visual arts elements and principles, analyzing the art of professional artists, and using children's picture book illustrators as an entrance to both understanding and making art. Please complete this reflection after we have had all of the student presentations in class.
I found the activites my classmates came up with to be fun! I participated in the activity of creating art using ripped up pieces of construction paper! It was a fun activity! I really enjoyed it!! I will be honest this class has been stressing me out alot and I feel like it is way too much work for a 2 credit class, however I found the art activites kinda stress reducing! It was nice!

Reflection #3

Think about the reading and the activities we did in class, as well as your own experience with dance in elementary school. Think about how this approach to childrens' creative dance might be different than studio dance (jazz, ballet, hip hop, etc.) or social dance - why do you think children's dance specialists might focus more on childrens' creative dance for education? How do you think you might use dance in your own teaching?

I actually have been sick this past week so I was only in class for about 20 minutes, but I definatley feel dance is a very good thing to incorporate into your classroom. Why? Because Dance is a form of exercise and exercise is essential for our brains to learn. Dance is also a great way to get students engaged or use as your hook to get them focused. I also feel warm-ups or sometimes called morning movements are awesome, just to get the brain going and alert. In my preschool class we do morning movements and the kids love it. It gets alot of their wiggles out and it gets them focused and ready for learning. I also liked how in our class this past week when we were done reflecting you turned on some fast upbeat music to get us all dancing. I think elementary kids would love that!!
